John E. Koster Memorial Scholarship Recipient
"My name is Joe D. Popplewell, and to say my time here at the University of Idaho has been anything short of incredible would be a severe understatement. Coming from the small, rural farming community of Buhl, Idaho and attending the University of Idaho has been one of the best choices in my life. Not only have I received an excellent education in the four short years I have been in Moscow, but the connections, friendships, and overall college experience I have garnered by attending the University of Idaho as an undergraduate is something I will always hold with great significance.
"Currently, I am a senior accounting major and will be graduating this May. After graduation, I will be attending law school beginning in the fall of 2008. It is my plan to emphasize in the study of both business law as well as criminal law. Upon completion of law school, it is my hope to practice somewhere in the Northwest.
"This last year, I was fortunate enough to receive the John E. Koster Memorial Scholarship. This gracious scholarship has allowed me to pursue my dream of not only graduating from the University of Idaho with an undergraduate degree in accounting, but at the same time position myself in a highly successful light as I prepare to enter into the world of legal education. Without this financial assistance, the achieving of my academic aspirations would have been and would be much more difficult. It is scholarships such as the John E. Koster Memorial that allow for students such as myself to achieve educational success at the University of Idaho. For this I am extremely appreciative and thankful. Go Vandals!"
