David Piper

David Piper was raised in Idaho Falls, Idaho and graduated from Skyline High School in 1981. He then attended Lewis Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho on a basketball scholarship, and graduated in 1986 with a degree in business. David was on campus at the University of Idaho from 1987 to 1988 to obtain his M.B.A. degree with an emphasis in Finance.

He started in the securities industry in 1988 with Piper Jaffray and Hopwood in Bellevue, Washington. After graduating from the broker training program in early 1989, he started working with clients and handling their money. In 1993 David was promoted to Assistant Manager of Piper Jaffray, and in 1998 he was promoted to office manager in the Bellevue branch. Due to constraints on time working with clients and managing he decided to resign from management in 2001 and work with clients full time. In late 2001, David moved his practice to Smith Barney in Bellevue and has been there since. His practice focuses on high net worth clients and consists of asset management, estate planning, education funding and wealth transfer.

David is a certified financial advisor and financial planning specialist. He is licensed in the following state(s): AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, ID, IL, MI, MN, MO, MT, NE, NV, OH, OR, TX, VA, WA, WY. David manages a $150 million portfolio, and he is excited to come to campus and share some direct retrospect with the students regarding the profession and how the last six months has affected it.

On a personal basis David has been married to his wife Sharon for 22 years and they have 3 children, Hannah 18, who is a freshman at Western Washington University, Josh and Tyler, 15 year old twins, in 9th grade. Sharon and David enjoy golf and have been involved coaching youth sports over the past 10 years.
