If one of your career goals is to analyze and manage business and investment portfolios, then you can get top-notch experience in that career through one of the College of Business and Economics’ student investment programs.
Barker Capital Management and Trading Program
You can gain valuable investment and trading experience in the Barker Bulls and Bears Trading Room. After you receive individualized mentoring from faculty on real-time futures, commodities, and securities trading systems, you become authorized to trade your personal accounts valued from $10,000 to $35,000 each.
Davis Investment Group
You learn the art of analyzing companies and making investment decisions. As a student in the Davis Program, you have the responsibility for following and reporting on assigned stocks within the Davis Portfolio and make buy/sell recommendations to the group, which manages a portfolio valued at more than $400,000. Realized income and capital gains are distributed to the University of Idaho general scholarship fund and to the CBE scholarship fund. You can go on annual trips to major financial centers in New York City, Chicago, and San Francisco, where you can experience actual trading floor environments and other financial institutions.
D.A. Davidson Program
You and other students manage a $50,000 portfolio in the Security Analysis and Portfolio Management courses.
