October 23, 2014 - Jamie Hass
Jamie is the founder of MJ3 Industries, a start-up company based on her UI Physics dissertation (2012). The company is developing nanocoatings for veterinary and human orthopedic devices to enhance bonding between bone and implant. MJ3 received a NSF SBIR grant (2013) centered on this patented technique. She is also the co-owner of two North Idaho veterinary clinics and the chief veterinarian at a contract research organization (CRO). Jamie has received an IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence Fellowship (2010), HERC Business Research Grant (2011), Idaho Innovation Award Finalist (2011), and 3rd Place in the VIEW Business Plan Competition (2012).
April 8, 2014 - Rick Dean
Rick Dean is the President of Moxie Java International, LLC. After serving in the U.S. Army in Germany, Rick returned to Grangeville, Idaho, where he farmed for 25 years and, in conjunction with partners in Calgary, Canada, founded Spray-Air—an agricultural equipment company specializing in state-of-the-art spray dispersion technology. After selling Spray-Air in 1998, Rick and his wife relocated to Boise. In 2001, they purchased Moxie Java International, Idaho’s oldest and largest chain of coffeehouses. Rick serves as the company’s president and CEO. Moxie Java is in process of becoming the manufacturer of the University of Idaho’s exclusive Vandal Blend coffee. Rick earned a bachelor’s in business marketing from the University of Idaho.
April 8, 2014 - Jon Kimberling
Jon Kimberling is the owner of Kimberling Insurance Agency. Jon ’78 started at Jim Newsome Insurance a month after graduation. He has been an active member and leader in the Moscow and U-Idaho communities for more than three decades. Jon’s business has provided generations of Idaho students with health insurance. He has served the Moscow community as a Farmers Insurance agent for 33 years. Jon supports Vandal Athletics and has served as a past national board president for the Vandal Scholarship Fund, providing leadership in the effort to support students’ athletic and academic goals. He serves as the City of Moscow Representative on the Pullman/Moscow Airport Board and on the Finance Committee of the Moscow Urban Renewal Agency.
April 8, 2014 - Tracy Niles
Tracy is the district manager of Farmers Insurance Agency. Since 2002, Tracy has run his Farmers Insurance agency, which he grew to 2500 policies in force with $1.75 million in gross written premium by the end of 2007. A year later he became one of the district managers for the Spokane area. Recently he was asked to cover the Moscow/Lewiston territory whose combined districts hold 31 agents and over $45 million in gross written premium. Tracy is active in his community and has been an assistant wrestling coach for the local high schools for 14 years, and volunteered as chairman of events for the last two U.S. Skating Championships. He earned a bachelor’s in marketing and human resources from Eastern Washington University.
April 8, 2014 - Ric Rocca
Ric Rocca ’77 held a variety of financial and executive positions during his corporate career at Marriott/Sodexo, including vice president of finance and planning, SVP of operations, SVP of Strategic Planning, and president at Renaissance Learning. He lives in Spokane and is president of Darios Investments—a franchisee of Jimmy Johns Sandwich shops. In 2013, Darios Investments was recognized as franchisee of the year for all of Jimmy Johns. Darios operates six Jimmy Johns in Spokane and has the rights to five more stores, including one in Moscow and Lewiston, Idaho, and Clarkston, Washington. Ric earned an MBA from Washington State University.
March 25, 2014 - Daysha Hampton
Daysha Hampton is the founder and owner of the Idaho Yoga Co-op and Idaho Yoga Co-op Wellness Center in Idaho Falls, Idaho, and the Idaho Teton Yoga Co-op in Idaho’s Teton Valley. Daysha has taught yoga all over the United States, including Idaho, Massachusetts, Washington, D.C., Virginia, Maryland, Colorado, and Southern California. She has also led International yoga and service retreats to Nicaragua and India with upcoming trips to India and other international destinations. Daysha earned master’s degrees at American University and Harvard, and her bachelor’s at University of Idaho.
