The Davis Investment Group was established in 1989 with a $100,000 grant donated by J.E. and A.D. Davis, the founders of Winn Dixie grocery chain. This amount was matched by the UI Consolidated Investment Trust (CIT). The CIT matching funds, plus a reasonable interest on the use of the funds, have since been returned to the UI CIT. Presently, the fund is worth over $400,000. Over the years, the Davis Group has contributed over $250,000 towards the University and College of Business and Economics scholarship funds. The Program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to gain real life investment experience during their college careers. New members are interviewed and selected by the group each spring, and all students are encouraged to apply, regardless of class level or major. The Davis Fund has also provide funds for the new J.A. Albertson College of Business and Economics building.
