Benefits
Summer IBC is 17-credits and can allow students to complete their business degree up to a year earlier. It can also help accommodate a study abroad or semester-long internship within a 4-year plan. It is also a great way for another major to fit in a business minor in their 4 year plan.
Application process:
Eligible students must be junior standing by end of spring 2012 (58 credits). In addition, prerequisite courses include at least a 2.35 GPA in the following courses: Acct. 201/202, Econ. 201/202, BLaw 265, and Stat. 251 or 301 OR permission.
Interested students must complete the application and if approved, will be given permission to register for Bus 340-345 for Summer 2012 sessions.
Bus339, Acct.310, Econ34, counterparts to Business IBC, must be taken during the fall or spring semester for business majors.
Questions:
Do you have to be a CBE major?
No, non-business majors and those pursuing a business major are encouraged to take summer IBC.
Can I enroll in only 1 session of Summer Business IBC - that is, the first "semester" or second "semester" only?
The expectation is that most students enrolling in Summer Business IBC will complete the entire summer sequence. However, we are reserving a small number of slots for students who want to only take a single session of summer IBC. Indicate this preference on your application and it will be reviewed.
Is there a deadline for applications?
Currently there is no deadline but we may be setting a deadline at the beginning of the spring semester. The sooner students let us know their intentions the better however.
What about he "IBC Counterpart" courses, e.g., Bus. 339 Econ 340, and Acct. 310. Are they also a part of the Summer IBC?
No, these are not offered in the summer. If a business major has completed their predictor courses with the required GPA they will be allowed to register for these counterparts either in the spring 2012 semester OR they will take them in the Fall 2012 semester. They will need a “co-requisite” override from their advisor, however, to register for these however.
What are the pre-requisites for summer IBC?
Acct. 201 & 202, Econ 201 & 202, BLaw 265, Stat 251 OR permission.
How do I sign up for Summer IBC?
Complete the application and submit to cbe@uidaho.edu or deliver to Department of Business office, ALB 225. Once received and approved, you will be given permission to register for Bus 340-345 for summer session.
How much will Summer IBC cost?
2012 summer fees (for resident and non-resident students) will be $293 per credit. Summer IBC is 17 credits, making the total fees $4981.
Is there financial aid or are scholarships available for the summer?
Summer session is considered to be the end of the academic year; therefore, the amount of financial aid money left to be considered is very limited. To discuss your options please contact
Dana Stover , or call the student financial aid office (208) 885-6312.
Can I take other classes during the summer besides Business IBC?
No.
Will I still be able to work during the summer with Business IBC?
This is highly discouraged given the pace of the program and the fact most evenings may be reserved for you to work on team projects.
