Give to the College
We ask you because you are the graduates and leaders in business who understand why the College of Business and Economics (CBE) at the University of Idaho is special. As most of you know, the percentage of our overall college operating budget is shifting as we continue to receive a smaller piece of the pie from the state. We cannot ask the students to make up all of the difference. As their fees increase, it is our responsibility to offer ever more generous scholarships and financial assistance.
In addition, it is a priority to attract private dollars to put together more competitive salaries for our faculty. We have incredibly dedicated faculty at the College of Business and Economics, but it is going to be ever more challenging to attract and keep our best and brightest teachers.
That is where you, our graduates and friends, make such a difference. Your commitment to keeping CBE strong and helping us compete as we continue to attract top students is going to be one of the main reasons why 30, 50 years and beyond, there will still be an amazing group of leaders in business who all were fortunate enough to experience the beginnings of their professional life at the University of Idaho. You don't have to look very far to see what an impact private giving can make – the J. A. Albertson Building is a beacon to all on campus. This 100 percent privately-funded facility is a great example of how our alumni and friends are leaving a legacy and ensuring a prosperous future for the university.
That is why we ask. We want to insure a prosperous future for the University of Idaho College of Business and Economics. It is why the Dean, the faculty and the staff work so many hours each week to educate our alumni and friends about all the good reasons why CBE is a worthwhile investment. It is an investment in our people, an investment in the economy of the state of Idaho and beyond. Yes, we will invite you to help us enable Idaho students reach their professional goals. I hope you accept the invitation knowing that you are contributing to our mission: To be a leader in integrated business education through innovative and transformational learning experiences that prepare our students to meet the opportunities and challenges of a globally competitive world.
"Receiving my scholarships has meant the world to me. I have been fortunate to receive enough scholarship money each year that I have not had to take out any loans and will be graduating without any debt! I am very thankful for the C.W. Moore Scholarship as well as scholarships from my hometown, they have helped me finance my schooling and have allowed me to focus on my studies." – Gretchen Bailey
