Kathleen R. Probasco
Kathleen R. Probasco, who has served as editor of this publication since 1978, retired in March 2001. Kathy came to UI in 1968 as a receptionist/secretary in the Student Counseling Center. A year later she moved to the Office of the Faculty Secretary, where she held positions of secretary and administrative assistant. In 1978, she became assistant faculty secretary and catalog editor, producing her first General Catalog. Kathy later was promoted to associate secretary of the faculty and then associate registrar/catalog editor. In 1997, she was named academic publications editor. Kathy has earned three UI Outstanding Employee Awards, and was named an Honorary UI Alumna in 1988. She credits her mentor, R. Bruce Bray, for excellent training and support and especially for the motto "The only thing better than perfect is done!"
The 2001 UI General Catalog honors her longtime meritorious service and recognizes her dedication to the university and community.
