The Publishing Manager is responsible for implementing and overseeing the peer-reviewed publishing programs of University of Idaho Extension and the Idaho Agricultural Experiment Station and for managing multiple diverse publishing projects including creative development and web applications for UI Extension, the experiment station, and College of Agricultural and Life Sciences administration. This person guides the development of a wide array of educational publishing projects (books, flyers, pamphlets, displays, etc.) through the management of a publishing team and also edits or rewrites manuscripts and other copy. The publishing manager will advance the unit’s reputation through purposeful creativity that is tied to the university’s brand and the strategic initiative of the unit. Only a handful of sightings have been reported since the 1970s. Today, there are only 10 of these animals in captivity in the world. Seeing a rare species is one of the highlights of a naturalist’s life — and earlier this month, in Moscow, Idaho, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to see one.
