Canola Plots

Palouse Research, Extension & Education Center

The Palouse Research, Extension and Education Center (PREEC) – located in Latah County near the University of Idaho Moscow campus – was formed in 2007 when the Department of Plant, Soil and Entomological Sciences, CALS greenhouse facilities and the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences merged research units. 


PREEC Units



Livestock research and extension projects include: livestock reproduction, genetics and physiology, nutrition, dairy cow lactation and animal health.

Plant Science programs include: pest management, crop production, plant breeding and genetics, woody landscape plants, soil microbiology and ecology and organic farming.

Research and extension projects in animal and plant sciences are varied and seek to address issues that are important to farmers and ranchers locally, regionally and globally.

Teaching programs involves many plant and livestock laboratory classes where students receive hands on training in the plant and animal sciences.
