Become a CALS Ambassador

Each spring semester, the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences recruits students to become ambassadors. An individual must submit a completed application, attend the optional informational ambassador reception (March 5 from 2-3:30 pm. in the Ag Biotech Interaction Court), and if selected will be interviewed by the selection committee. From those who have submitted an application and been interviewed, qualified candidates will be asked to join the program.

APPLICATION PACKET: The competitive selection process consists of several activities: Applicants will be notified if they have been chosen for an interview the following week.

The time commitment/duties required of CALS Ambassadors include:
SPRING 2013 SEMESTER:

Annual Wine & Cheese Tasting Fundraiser: Friday, April 19th 2013

required 1 hour participation (funds go towards the 2012-13 academic year)

CALS Ambassador Training Program (CAT) - Saturday, April 27, 2013
FALL SEMESTER (2 credits)
- Six high school class visits
- One Virtual High School Visit
- Attend all weekly meetings
- Attend the following events:
- Retreat (Aug. 30- Sept. 1, 2013)
- CALS Back-to-School Picnic (September)
- AG Days (October 4-7 2013)
- Ice cream social (October)
SPRING SEMESTER (1 Credit)
- Three high school class visits
- One Virtual High School Visit
- Attend all weekly meetings
- Participate in calling admitted students for 2 hours
- Attend the following events:
- UI Job, Internship and Graduate School Fair (February)
- Vandal Friday (Last Friday of March)
- One other event throughout the semester. Events TBA in January 2014.
