Don Curry

Don SpotlightI am a junior in Agricultural Education, Teaching Option.

The reasons why AgSAC is important is helping students succeed, making club memberships grow and to be an available resource.

I like being a part of AgSAC because it helps me to serve others.

The factors influenced my decision to attend UI and select a major in the College of Agricultural and Life Sciences is that my grandfather, Dr. Paul Eke, taught Ag economics at the U of I.  Both he and my dad, Don Curry Sr., graduated from UI.  I feel as I am following in the path laid down by influential people in my life. I had a great agri teacher in high school and they helped me make the decision to major in Agricultural Education.  I attended Meridian High School and Mr. Steve Wilder was a great role model as well as Scott Marema and Mrs. Hogan.

My favorite experience as an AgSAC member would be the corn maze and casino night.

My favorite department is AEE and learning how to become an effective high school teacher and role model.  I am learning how best to serve the needs of students.

My favorite place on campus is Sisters Brew Coffee House where I like to read.

My favorite college memory would have to be hunting on the weekend.

My favorite professors are Dr. Kattlyn Wolf because she is fun and enthusiastic. Secondly, Dr. Joseph Guenthner is a favorite because he is a great role model to students and is passionate about teaching.  Lastly, Marvin Heimgartner would have to be a favorite because he reminds me to use my common sense and to remember what is most important.

The best part of being a vandal is the family tradition.

One word that describes me is Endurance because you just have to keep going.  Sometimes life hurts and sometimes life is wonderful, just keep going.

How do I spend my free time and do I feel satisfied?  Learn to serve others with a servant’s heart and you will live a satisfying life.
