The school's Alumni Board advises the director and faculty on ways to involve alumni in the school's activities. The board organizes the annual Alumni Brunch held in Moscow each year. When I was growing up in ClarkFork, I never heard from my parents, "when you go to college," but rather "when you go to Idaho." They both had attended, with my father earning a master’s degree from Idaho, and all three of my brothers had gone there. They proudly sang the words to Here We Have Idaho (while standing, of course) with the ending of "Alma mater our Idaho."

Evelyn Butler Bulen, ‘66
As a farm girl, who was engaged, I began attending the University of Idaho, not knowing what my area of study would be. A roommate said she was majoring in Home Economics, which it was called then, and a light went on.

Christi Jackson, MS ‘86
My experience since obtaining a Masters Degree in Child Development and Family Relations in 1986 includes being a Child Protective Social Worker and teaching in both public and private education. Last summer, I directed a summer childcare program in Colorado.

Margaret Ritchie Distinguished Speaker Seminar
To bring to the University of Idaho an outstanding authority in an area of interest to Family and Consumer Scientists (formerly referred to as Home Economists). To stimulate public
interest and promote increased visibility to the field of Family and Consumer Sciences. To provide the opportunity for student and faculty interaction with outstanding leaders in the field. To honor Margaret Ritchie’s contributions to the field of Family and Consumer Sciences and to the University of Idaho.
Leila Old Historic Costume Collection
Alumni and faculty emeriti volunteer their time to manage and exhibit this costume collection, named for Leila Old, clothing and textiles faculty emeritus. Exhibits are rotated regularly in the school's display windows for campus and community viewing. Special exhibits are prepared for campus celebrations such as alumni gatherings each year.
