Introducing Dr. Jim Lindstrom

University of Idaho Extension is pleased to announce that Dr. Jim Lindstrom has accepted the position of 4-H Youth Development Director effective October 1, 2012.  Dr. Lindstrom will replace Dr. Arlinda Nauman, who retired in June.

Dr. Lindstrom has an extensive background in both Extenion and 4-H in Montana, Arizona, and Washington.  Dr. Lindstrom will work with faculty and staff from all UI colleges to enricj the 4-H program, and is looking forward to meeting the volunteers, youth and UI Extensionand county personnel that are the heart and soul of the 4-H program.

 


Connors and Touchstone to Present at NAAE Conference

Dr. Jim Connors and Dr. Allison Touchstone have been selected by the National Association for Agricultural Education to present a workshop at the national NAAE convention on proper ethics and ethical behaviors for secondary instructors. 



AE4HYD To Assist at National FFA Convention

Several of the faculty members in the department will join secondary agriculture students and teachers in Indianapolis, Indiana, for the National FFA Convention — October 24-27, 2012.

  • Dr. Jim Connors, associate professor and department chair, is the Career Development Events (CDE) superintendent for the National Parliamentary Procedure Event.
  • Dr. Allison Touchstone, senior instructor, is the Career Development Event (CDE) superintendent for the National Extemporaneous Speaking CDE. 
  • Dr. John Mundt, professor emeritus, assisted with the National Farm Business Management CDE.
  • Dr. Kattlyn Wolf, assistant professor, will be assisting with the Collegiate FFA.
  • Dr. Jeremy Falk, assistant professor, will be working with the AgriScience Fair.

Students from agricultural education will also be attending the convention to assist:

  • Michelle Ball, sophomore ag ed major, is the Idaho FFA State Reporter.
  • Seth Pratt, sophomore agricultural science, communications, and leadership major, will be retiring from his office as National FFA Western Region Vice President.
  • Members of the University of Idaho Collegiate FFA Chapter will be attending to assist with National Parliamentary Procedure CDE, National Extemporaneous Speaking CDE, and National AgriScience Fair.
