A Calendar Editor can often save time and effort by using a bulk import process rather than adding events one at a time through an event template. Bulk import can create dozens or even hundreds of records in one action. However, there are some cautions that must be understood.
- The bulk import process cannot create repeat events. While importing multiple records of an event may seem like a work-around this produces events that are not linked to one another. A better option is to import events as a single event and then edit it to create the repeating pattern.
- The column heads in the import spreadsheet should exactly line up with field names in the Trumba template. The import process permits a “mapping” of fields that have different names from the template but relying on this during the import introduces more possibility for error. The best practice for reliable bulk import is to download a copy of events from the target calendar to create a template for the import spreadsheet.
- Bulk import does not work well when the “Notes” field is complicated by special formatting or embedded hyperlinks.
- It is possible to refer to an event image in a bulk import process but the image must be uploaded to Trumba in advance and the image’s URL in Trumba must be placed accurately in the import spreadsheet.
