Cultural Landscapes

When approaching the design or planning of sites, students engage in in-depth archival research and on-site surveys to explore the social, cultural, and environmental values of place. Walking the site, talking to the people that live there, understanding the evolution of the site in an historical timeline helps students envision the place’s evolution and work creatively within that process. In this sense, as they are perceived by students and their stories told, all landscapes are cultural.
