The University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture Foundations program provides just that – a foundation.
To be successful in the visual disciplines, you must first develop the fundamental skills and knowledge on which you can build your expertise and talents. That's where Foundations comes in.
The program allows each art and design student to learn core design processes and principles. It also aims to improve each student's ability to communicate effectively through mediums such as drawings and construction of three-dimensional elements.
All students in the College of Art and Architecture complete the Foundations program. It is also open to others outside the college. The Foundations program includes the following courses:
- Art 121 Design Process 1
- Art 122 Design Process 2
- Art 111 Drawing 1
- Art 112 Drawing 2
- Art 110 Visual Communication
