University Prioritization Process Recommends Closing Some Programs to Retain Focus
In January, the University Prioritization recommended closing three CAA degrees in order to focus resources on professional programs and build on university strengths.
Recommended for closure:
- MS Architecture, this is not the accredited Master of Architecture degree, contact Diane Armpriest, chair, if you have any questions.
- MS Landscape Architecture, this is not the accredited Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree, contact Steve Drown, chair, if you have any questions.
- MAT Art; this is the online program for teachers. Contact Bill Woolston, chair, if you have any questions.
Facts:
- No professional programs leading to state licensure or accreditation are adversely impacted.
- Approximately 20 students are affected. We will "teach out" these programs over 2 years.
- Most classes affected have fewer than 5 students.
- Most classes are taught as an "overload" above the normal teaching requirements.
- No faculty positions are lost as a result of this process (budget hold backs - a separate process, - might require this, however).
The Challenge to CAA:
- This leaves us without a graduate degree in Landscape Architecture. The department is working on possible alternatives.
