Thank you for your interest in Summer Design Week. The University of Idaho College of Art and Architecture looks forward to offering you a preview of our programs during this rewarding on-campus experience.
More than ever, leaders with design skills and creative minds are needed to address the confounding problems of our day and shape the built environment in which we live. Graduates of the College of Art and Architecture are uniquely prepared to do the designer's job of extending thought boundaries and generating new solutions.
At Summer Design Week, you will have the opportunity to work with like-minded students and esteemed faculty from each discipline. By week's end, you will have a greater understanding of the course of study you wish to pursue--along with new skills that will help you get the most out of your first collegiate experience.
On behalf of our faculty and staff, I hope you will take advantage of this unique opportunity and look forward to visiting with you this summer.
Mark Hoversten, FASLA, AICP Dean
The value of design is more important now than at any other time in our history. At the University of Idaho’s College of Art and Architecture, we pay particular attention to the design experience and quality of life in the visual realm.
Summer Design Week will teach you the underlying principles common to the allied design disciplines of Art, Architecture, Interior Design, Landscape Architecture and Virtual Technology and Design. Integrated design exercises and workshops will stress how design can improve our quality of life as well as conserve energy and resources. You will be introduced to cutting edge technologies and time-honored techniques presented by seasoned professors, current students and current practitioners who have made significant contributions to society as a whole.
On behalf of the University of Idaho, we look forward to treating you to a one-of-a-kind experience at one of America’s most beautiful university campuses.
