Studio Art and Design, B.F.A.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts (B.F.A.) is a four-year professional degree program for those who want a career in fine art or design. The program offers coursework in the following areas:

• Graphic design
• Interactive design
• Digital imaging
• Painting
• Printmaking
• Sculpture
• Mixed media
• Drawing
• Art history and theory

Requirements for the B.F.A. are stringent. Students must apply for admission into the professional program (junior and senior years) after successful completion of the first two years of the preprofessional program (freshman and sophomore years).

What You Learn
As a student in the program, you will build a strong historical and theoretical foundation in art and design, and explore both traditional and emerging techniques and technologies used in the studio arts and design.

With intensive studio training and personal instruction from faculty members, you will refine your technical and creative skills, while establishing your individual artistic style. For your senior project, you will develop a final exhibition based on individual interests and goals. The senior project is supported by research and is complemented by a written thesis. Your work will be exhibited on campus during your final semester.
