  • Biography

    Since 2013 David Franco is an Assistant Professor at the University of Idaho. Prior to that he has developed simultaneously professional and academic careers in Spain, having achieved international recognition in both. He obtained his Master’s Degree in Architecture in 2001 and his Master in Advanced Research Studies in 2010, both at the Architecture School of Madrid (ETSAM) of the Technical University of Madrid (UPM). He was appointed Associate Professor on Architectural Design at the Institute of Technology of the San Pablo Ceu University of Madrid in 2006. In 2009 he become Director of the Architecture Thesis Program in the same University. He has also lectured as a visiting teacher at different Universities in Spain, England, Norway and Germany. Currently he is working on the last phase of his PhD dissertation, scheduled to be completed during 2013. 

    After ten years of professional experience I n different architectural offices, he opened his own practice in Madrid in 2004 under the name MISC arquitectos (www.misc.es), in which where he has developed and built projects of different kinds, like public housing, small institutional buildings, public spaces or landscape areas in Norway, Finland, England, Poland and Spain, being awarded National and International prizes in a number of competitions. His architectural proposals and his research have been widely published in books and magazines and displayed in significant exhibitions such as the 10th Venice Biennale. Since 2006 he is an active member of Europan Europe Technical Committee, the world’s largest platform organizing competitions for young architects and from 2010 he is also a member of the Europan Spain Scientific Committee.
