- 1980-1982, he severed as Senior Registrar, Geriatric Medicine, Northwick Park Hospital and Clinical Research Centre, Harrow, Middlesex, UK
- 1982-88 Dr. Cusack was Assistant Professor, Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine
- 1982- to present Dr. Cusack is serving as Chief, Geriatrics Section, Medical Service, Veteran Administration Medical Center, Boise
- 2007- present he is Professor, Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine, University of Washington School of Medicine
- His editorial responsibilities includes: Drugs and Aging, American Journal of Geriatric Pharmacotherapy
- His research involvement:
- Mechanisms of Anthracycline Pharmacokinetics and Aging, VA Merit Review
