Dr Anim-Appiah obtained his medical degree from the University of Ghana.
Thereafter he trained in general medicine and clinical chemistry in the UK.
He subsequently moved to Pennsylvania to continue his postgraduate medical training.
After Internal medicine residency training at Abington Memorial Hospital he underwent fellowship training first in Geriatrics and then in Rheumatology at the Temple University School of Medicine.
He is ABIM board certified in Internal Medicine, Geriatrics and Rheumatology.
Dr Anim-Appiah currently works at the Boise VA Medical Center where he is the staff rheumatologist and also a general internist.
He is a clinical assistant professor of Medicine at the University of Washington School of Medicine.
