The Aquaculture Research Institute was created in 1988 to facilitate research in both commercial and conservation aquaculture sciences and technologies. The institute is linked with the
Colleges of Agricultural and Life Sciences,
Natural Resources,
Business,
Science and
Engineering. Collaborative research projects are conducted with federal agencies, including the U.S. Department of Agriculture, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, and the National Marine Fisheries Service, and with state agencies, Tribal agencies, and companies involved in all aspects of the aquaculture industry.
