Extension & Outreach
As the state’s land grant institution, The University of Idaho has a statewide footprint. Extension educators are based in 42 of Idaho’s 44 counties. Additionally, extension research facilities are located in regions in according to the agricultural economy. The University of Idaho, Boise houses statewide extension specialists in disciplines of family economics; early childhood education and family literacy; nutrition education; pesticides; a 4-H state administrator; agricultural communications staff; and other personnel with statewide responsibilities. The Boise location provides access to Idaho’s largest population base and is convenient for travel to other locations. Ada County extension educators work in collaboration with the University of Idaho, Boise to serve the local community.The University of Idaho extension system is committed to responding to the changing needs of Idaho’s greatest resource – its people. Workshops, classes, and face-to-face consultations link Idahoans to a wealth of University of Idaho research and expertise, additional land grant institutions, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, and over three million volunteers nationwide.
