Research areas include surface and subsurface hydrology,overland and in-stream erosion, wintertime hydrologic processes (soil freezing and snow melting dynamics) and distributed hydrologic modeling in GIS. The primary goal of the research is to assist in watershed/farm management to minimize pollutant loading to the lakes and streams of the Pacific Nothrwest.

Research emphasis is in development of automated micro irrigation systems for integrated nitrogen/irrigation management to minimize subsurface nitrate contamination, quantification and treatment options to minimize canal seepage losses, and development and demonstration of techniques to minimize sediment losses from surface irrigated lands.
