about us
The Department of Art & Design at the University of Idaho is unique in our philosophy of creative collaboration among the disciplines. Our location in the College of Art and Architecture also brings you into close collaboration with other students in the disciplines of architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, and virtual technology and design. Our accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD) insure you that our programs meet national standards that blend innovation with tradition.
As a student of Art & Design you will experience an integrated curriculum that fosters intellectual and professional growth while promoting a profound understanding of the potential of visual work in its many contexts: from personal expression to practical experience in the design professions to critical analysis and appreciation of our visual environment.
Beginning with foundation studies, you will acquire a strong theoretical, historical, and practical base in courses designed to foster a mature understanding of art, design, art education, and visual culture.
As you advance in the program you will deepen your knowledge within a discipline area, build and refine your body of work, and have opportunities for practical experience internships in the design professions.
We take pride in our graduates being strong visual thinkers with a deep appreciation of our visual world and well prepared to either continue their education at the graduate level or enter professional careers.
We look forward to working with you!
