Vandals have proven they can persevere over many different types of terrain. The Idaho landscape can be as rugged as it is beautiful, and Vandals will always move ahead.
I'm sure everyone was surprised by the recent news that President M. Duane Nellis will be moving to Texas Tech University in June. President Nellis has done a wonderful job advancing Idaho. He has been a dynamic spokesman and passionate leader for us. However, no one individual is bigger than our institution.
Over the past four years I have worked with President Nellis, crisscrossing the nation to meet and honor alumni, each of whom have left their own impressions on our alma mater. With so many alumni working to further our legacy of leading, it's clear we will persevere through this change.
Our commitment to student success, research, teaching excellence, and community outreach and stewardship all ring true in today's Vandal Vibe, just as it will well into the future - no matter the terrain.

Serving with Joe in Africa

Alumna Caitlin Ambrosia has been working with the Peace Corps since July 2012 in Zambia, Africa. The two-year service trip has been full of cultural enlightenment and, of course, Joe Vandal.
“Being an Idaho Vandal is a huge part of who I am today. Joe Vandal is our mascot. I have a mini Joe doll. Joe goes with me wherever I go. The Vandals are the reason I'm taking this path with my life. 'Serving with Joe' is the name of my blog. Joe will be traveling with me wherever I go …” – Caitlin

Greek Heart on the Court

Eighty-five diehard University of Idaho women’s basketball fans packed the Cowan Spectrum for Senior Night March 2 with one mission: to get – and keep – their sorority sister on the court.
Very few team sport players tackle the balancing act of going Greek while maintaining team commitments - but senior guard Ana Overgaard has found the middle ground. Read more about her connection to Greek life.
Elite Warfare Training on the Ground

AROTC Cadet Steven Cleppe, a University of Idaho sophomore majoring in political science, can count himself among the elite survivors of an intense two-week course to train in Army mountain warfare. Teams moved in 11-man squad formation through the extreme terrain of northern Vermont. Seventy started, but Cleppe was one of the only 49 who graduated. Read about the obstacles he faced and view photos of the course.
