Nancy Lyle ’56 is the daughter of the late Jim Lyle, whose dedication the University of Idaho is memorialized in this award bearing his name. Jim Lyle served with great distinction as University of Idaho alumni secretary/director from 1946-1969. Nancy energetically took on her father’s mantle of volunteerism to the university, wearing it with spirit and grace for decades.
“While employed at the university, she went above and beyond to serve not only the Office of Alumni Relations but the campus population as a whole. For decades she has served tirelessly with the Alpha Phi housing corporation and the PanHellenic Council,” wrote Andrea Niehenke, past president of the Alumni Association.
“She has been a longtime volunteer in the Dean of Students Office, the sorority system and the Moscow campus’ Student Services Office,” added Niehenke.
F. Parker McCreary, past president of the Alumni Association, wrote: “Nancy’s leadership in commitment to our alma mater will be hard to match in the years to come, and it is appropriate that her name be acknowledge as having ‘lived the spirit’ of her father and all who so love our alma mater.”
Additionally, she has served the Moscow community through her work with Relay for Life, the Washington/Idaho Symphony, Gritman Hospital, Moscow public schools, and Latah county Historical Society.
