John '85 and Linda '83 Mitchell

John and Linda Mitchell’s contributions have been felt from the University of Idaho and far into the community.

Linda graduated in 1983 from the U-Idaho Department of Civil Engineering.  She is chair of the St. Vincent de Paul North Idaho Board of Directors in Coeur d’Alene.

John graduated in 1985 from the U-Idaho College of Law. John served on the College of Law Advisory Board from 2006-2012.

In the 1980s, the couple helped re-energize the Kootenai County Alumni Chapter, of which Linda is an active member.  The chapter sponsors scholarships and other programs including the Kootenai County Medical Center Festival of Trees.

“They both have an affection for the university that is worn on their sleeves, and countless fellow students from their own days as undergraduates are glad to be their friends,” said Ronald Bush, a supporter of their nomination.

The two also stay involved in the Greek system - Linda with Gamma Phi Beta and John with Kappa Sigma. John helped form the Fraternity Alumni Council, to facilitate long-term support and improvement in the Greek system
