Congratulations! You are well on your way to your first class at University of Idaho. There are just a few things to do before you can start. To help make your time here more productive and successful we've set up a to-do list to help you with those few things. Check back often to stay on track.
Start Here — Admitted 101
Setting up your Vandal accounts as soon as possible ensures that you will receive crucial information on important updates about financial aid, billing, housing, registration, deadlines and more.
Check your VandalWeb and VandalMail accounts frequently to make sure you don't miss important information.
VandalWeb allows you access to your transcripts, student account, add/drop class forms, registration and many other important items that are vital to your success at the University of Idaho.
VandalMail is the official email used by your professors, academic advisor and the different university departments to communicate important dates and information with you.
Duo Multifactor Authentication (MFA) provides extra protection for your account. You will be directed to enroll in Duo MFA when you set up your account.

If you haven't already, make sure to file your FAFSA. It's the key to getting all the scholarships, grants and low-interest government loans you deserve.
It's free to apply! Enter U of I school code 001626 when filling out the application.
There are no income limits for FAFSA. Any eligible student can file.

All full-time, first-year students under 21 years of age are required to live on campus during their first year. When you confirm your living plan, you'll also confirm your dining plan option. Information about on-campus housing and how to reserve your room can be found here.

NOTE: All new, full-time U of I undergraduates on the Moscow campus are automatically charged the $100 New Student Orientation fee.

The Voices for Change safety program for undergraduates will help you navigate challenging situations. Next Steps — Steps for Success
Your VandalCard is your student ID for U of I. Request your card and have it mailed to you in three to five business days after the card is printed by selecting the “mail the card” option and entering your mailing address into the description field. You can also choose to pick it up in the Student Technology Center (TLC 128) if you are in Moscow, or if you are in Boise, at the Idaho Water Center 190 or College of Law Boise building.

Skip the lines! Pre-order your books online from the VandalStore and have them waiting for you when you arrive in Moscow. You will receive an email when your order is ready to pick up. If you're attending classes in Boise, Coeur d'Alene or Idaho Falls you can order books from the VandalStore and have them shipped to your home address.

The University of Idaho requires all full-time, fee-paying, degree-seeking undergraduate students enrolled in 12 or more credits and graduate/Law students enrolled in 9 or more credits to submit proof of health insurance as a condition of enrollment. Students subject to the requirement may choose to rely on personal health insurance or enroll in U of I's Student Health Insurance Program (SHIP). Personal health insurance must meet the minimum requirements or substantial compliance standards to qualify.
To submit information through VandalWeb:
- Log in to VandalWeb using your NetID and password
- Click on “Students Menu”
- Click on "Student Health Insurance Menu"
- Click on “Health Insurance Information Form”
- Select term from the drop-down list
- Complete form
- Submit

If you're bringing a vehicle to the Moscow campus, you'll need to buy a parking pass. Parking permits will be available for purchase for 2024-25 ONLINE ONLY starting at noon on Tuesday, July 9, 2024.

The beautiful campus is located in Moscow, Idaho, near the Idaho/Washington border. Getting here is easy:
- By car — University of Idaho is located on the Washington and Idaho border: University of Idaho Main Campus 709 S. Deakin St. Moscow, ID 83844
- By air — Area airports include Pullman-Moscow Regional Airport, Lewiston-Nez Perce County Regional Airport and Spokane International Airport. Cars can be rented at each of these airports.
- By bus — Greyhound Lines provides bus service to Moscow.
Make hotel reservations for your family for the start of school. Accommodations fill up fast.
In addition to your personal and room items, be sure to bring your own office and school supplies. If you don’t have a computer, remember all students have free access to the 15+ computer labs on campus.
Pets (except fish) are not allowed in the residence halls. Halogen lamps and cooking equipment, other than microwaves (limited to 800 watts), also are not allowed in the residence halls. Microwave/refrigerator combination units are provided in all residence hall rooms.
