Add or Drop Classes
You can add classes through VandalWeb during the first six days of each semester.  You can drop classes on VandalWeb through the first four weeks of the semester.  After these deadlines, you must fill out a paper Add / Drop form, obtain the necessary signatures, pay $5 to the Student Accounts Office, and take the form to the Registrar’s Office.   It is your responsibility to make sure the information is recorded properly.  When dropping off your form, ask when you will see the changes on your schedule.  Check your schedule after this date, if you do not see the updates, contact the Registrar’s Office immediately for assistance.

Note:

  • You can add classes online until the sixth day of class without the instructor’s permission
  • After the sixth day, a you must get the instructor’s signature on the Add/Drop form
  • Each form costs $5, which must be paid to Student Accounts before the form will be processed.
  • You can drop a class without receiving a W on your transcript anytime during the first four weeks of the course with your advisor’s signature.


Change a course to Pass/Fail.  
You can earn up to twelve credits of Pass/Fail by completing the Pass/Fail Option form, but there are strict limitations on what courses can be taken as Pass/Fail.  You and your Advisor should consult Regulation B-10 before taking a course as Pass/Fail.

Change your major. 
You must complete a Change of Curriculum form and submit it to the Registrar’s Office.  It is strongly recommended that you ask your advisor in your new major for their help in completing this form. If you do not have an advisor for your new major, stop by the departmental office and ask to have one assigned.  Once you have a name and contact information for your new advisor, make an appointment to discuss your new curriculum.  You do not have to wait until pre-registration advising to meet with your new advisor.

  • You may use this form to update your catalog year for your degree requirements, but not your Core requirements.  To change your Core curriculum, you must complete a Change of Core form.
  • You must secure signatures from the department you are joining and the department you are leaving.
  • You should connect with an advisor in your department as soon as possible so you are clear on the expectations of the degree and the sequence of courses.

Change of CoreYour advisor must complete a form and submit it to the Registrar’s Office.  You have the option of changing to a newer version of the University of Idaho Core curriculum (UI Core).  Students with at least 14 transferable credits from another institution of higher education, earned after graduating from high school, may choose to use the State Board Core requirements.  Changing your core catalog year must be done in consultation with your advisor.

  • You may not change to a Core curriculum that existed before your enrollment at the University of Idaho

Participate in the commencement ceremony before completing all my degree requirements.

  • This form requires your dean or associate dean’s signature.
  • This form must be submitted with a completed copy of  your Application for Degree form, which is available on VandalWeb
    • You must complete the Graduating Senior Survey and submit a paper copy of the confirmation page with your Application for Degree to verify the survey has been completed
  • Your advisor and University administrators have the ability to deny your request to participate in early commencement ceremonies.

You must complete the following steps:

Step 1: Complete the online Application for Degree form, which is available through VandalWeb.  The application is located under the “Student Information/Registration” Menu.

Step 2: Take the Graduating Senior Survey (also available on VandalWeb under Student Information/Registration Menu) and print out the final confirmation page of the survey.  Attach this document to the Application for Degree as proof that the survey was completed.

Step 3: Get your advisor’s signature on the Application for Degree form, and submit both documents (Application for Degree and verification of Graduating Senior Survey completion) to your college dean’s office.
