Homecoming 2013

This year's homecoming is a tribute to Vandals around the world. Branching out from our students on campus to the more than 95,000 alumni, not to mention parents and fans - there are many members of the Vandal family.

All are invited to Homecoming 2013 Sept. 22-29. And our worldly Vandals will have many events to come home to this year, with a packed schedule sure to please. Highlights include:

Departmental Decorating Contest

Students, faculty, staff and friends, don't be surprised if you see a little more silver and gold on campus Homecoming week. U-Idaho departments are invited to participate in this year's decorating contest.

Judging begins Tuesday, Sept. 24 between 9 and 11 a.m. Winners are announced Wednesday, Sept. 25 at the faculty/staff alumni luncheon and online. Winning departments will receive giftcards to the VandalStore. Download an entry form.

Vandal Jingles

Have an ode to U-Idaho? Don't keep those tunes to yourself. Entries are being accepted for the Vandal Jingle contest. Teams of two will present their jingles at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25 in the Student Union Building Ballroom. Copies of the jingle script are due Sunday, Sept. 22. Download an entry form.

Homecoming Parade

Applications are being accepted for parade float entries for this year's Homecoming celebration. The traditional parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 28 downtown Moscow. Entry forms are due September 20.

2013 Grand Marshals Grand Marshals (left to right) Rich and Sharon Allen stand beside Ruthie Nellis and U-Idaho President Duane Nellis along with fellow marshals Kris and Jeff Stoddard.

Grand Marshals

Our 2013 University of Idaho Homecoming Grand Marshals are Rich and Sharon Allen and Jeff and Kris Stoddard. They will lead the parade down Main Street. All four serve on the Campaign for Idaho national capital campaign committee for the university.

The Allens both graduated from Idaho in 1973 and were active on campus – Sharon in Kappa Kappa Gamma and Rich in Sigma Alpha Epsilon. They both remain active with their alma mater. Sharon retired in 2012 as Chairwoman of Deloitte & Touche. Rich was a principal with the Gellart Corporation before selling the company to focus on managing finances and investments.

The Stoddards met at the university during their freshman year – Jeff went on to graduate in 1975 and 1976 while Kris received her degree from the University of Utah.  Jeff is currently a partner in the Stoddard Family Partnership – the company played an integral role in the development of the Laguna Niguel community. Kris remains an avid Idaho supporter and Vandal fan.

Game Day

The Idaho Vandals will take on Temple University in the Kibbie Dome 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28.

The event will be followed by a free post-game celebration at the Best Western Plus University Inn, 1516 Pullman Road.
