SHOES

The S.H.O.E.S. Program is designed to take participants into the lives of victims and others affected by sexual assault and rape. Our goal is to challenge the choices of those planning and attending parties, as well as those men who ignore the voices and will of the women they violate. Personally sharing facts of an assault is a difficult and heroic act. Over 250 women experience similar behavior from men who live, work and party in the U of I community. Experiencing an assault is not supposed to be part of the college lifestyle. The only one who can stop an assault is the one planning to do it or maybe a community who increases the risk to those who rape.

The mission of B.E.A.R.’s S.H.O.E.S. (Sharing Her or His Own Experiences Supportively) Program is to introduce our community to the actual experiences of University of Idaho sexual assault survivors/victims and their families. By supportively revealing these experiences our intention is to increase awareness, create community, and build intolerance for rape supportive behaviors within our campus culture.  B.E.A.R. paw prints will serve as a guide to encourage a collective journey toward holding student rapists accountable for their actions.
