Dear Prospective Applicant,
Welcome to the University of Idaho Counseling & Testing Center Doctoral Internship Website! Our training faculty is committed to providing you with interesting and challenging training experiences and opportunities for personal and professional growth and development that will prepare you to make the transition from graduate school to new professional. We offer a well-rounded and versatile internship at a university counseling center and have a reputation for providing high quality training and excellent supervision. The internship prepares interns to work in a university or college counseling center or other adult outpatient setting. Core training experiences include Counseling, Diversity: Individual & Cultural Differences, Psychological Testing & Assessment, Outreach & Consultation, and Supervision (of practicum students). We also have several other unique training opportunities: a Psychiatry Rotation, an Alcohol & Drug Rotation, and training in basic Biofeedback theory and applications.
The internship emphasizes training and experiences in providing services to a diverse clientele of students. The goals of diversity training emphasize, but are not limited to, improving ethnic and cultural sensitivity, increasing awareness of different lifestyles, becoming more familiar with the literature on multi-cultural counseling, and developing greater competence in providing effective counseling for clients from diverse backgrounds. We encourage and welcome interns from diverse backgrounds to apply and value interns for their individual and cultural diversity.

We are located in Moscow, Idaho, a small, friendly university town in North Idaho. Moscow is known for its quality of life and has been dubbed “the Heart of Arts”. Moscow is just 7 miles from Pullman, Washington, the home of Washington State University. The two university communities offer residents access to a broad array of arts, cultural, athletic, and scholarly events. Moscow is also the gateway to major tourist destinations such as Seattle, Portland, Canada, Yellowstone and Glacier Park that are within a days’ driving distance. Idaho, nicknamed the Whitewater State, is renowned for its scenic beauty and uncrowded spaces.I hope that you will give our internship serious consideration.
